Week 6 Prompt Response

I work in a small branch and I noticed most of the items we place on display at eye level, outward facing on shelves or displays gets checked out. In thinking of innovative ways to promote romance, I found lots of ideas on Pinterest (thank you Erin!!!). One that I especially liked was having a title and signage with ,"if you like this, then read this" ,

YA Readers’ Advisory Display

I like to promote books that have become movies, because a lot of the time people don't even realize there was a book first! So I will have a display with the movie and the book- and if I have it in audio book, I will include that also.  The Hallmark movies are so popular and easy targets for integrated advisory - The When Calls the Heart Series - (book series first ! Janette One). Also some of the Debbie Macomber romances and Joann Fluke mystery/romances that have been made into Hallmark movies. Of course during the month of February everyone has Blind Date with a Book displays. I have seen (but have not tried yet at my branch) - this idea with movies and including a bag of microwave popcorn - seeing that made me think of having book-to-movie night at the library and having popcorn.

  1. I love the idea of including a bag of popcorn! It's low cost and super effective, who can turn that down?? Full points, you have lots of great ideas :)
